Marybeth Minnis
Marybeth Minnis,
assistant director of the School of Music since 2001
and assistant professor of bassoon since 1983. She has been
principal bassoonist of the Saginaw Bay Orchestra since 1985 and
frequently performs with the Grand Rapids Symphony. An active
chamber musician she performs with the Powers Woodwind Quintet, the
CMU Chamber Winds, the Fontana Concert Society of Kalamazoo and the
Concert d’amis. She has performed and/or presented at the
International Double Reed Society Conferences, the regional CBDNA
Conference in Mt. Pleasant, the MENC Conference in Indianapolis, the
Illinois Music Educators Conference in Peoria and the Midwest Band
and Orchestra Conference in Chicago. She has taught at Blue Lake
Fine Arts Camp and performed with their many faculty ensembles. She
received the bachelor of music education degree from Central
Michigan University and the master of music in bassoon performance
from University of Michigan. Her teachers include Lewis Hugh Cooper
and Robert Barris.
