Snare: Prepare the snare part to #13
Tenors: Prepare the tenor part to #13
Bass Drum: Prepare the no. 1 drum part
(highest drum) to #13
Cymbals: Prepare the high cymbal part to
#13
Front Ensemble (Pit): Prepare a mallet
selection of your choice. Prepare major scales, two octaves.
For all auditions:
- Sightreading will be required at all
auditions
- Mark time while performing all material.
- If any notation is confusing, take your
best guess. You will not be ‘dinged’ if your interpretation is
inaccurate.
The Chippewa Marching Band consists of more than 250 members representing 150+ high schools throughout the state and region. The Marching Chippewas have appeared on national television for the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions, distinguishing the group as one of the nation's most exciting contemporary bands.
The Chippewa Marching Band perform at all home football games and travel with the team once each year.
Aside from games, the Marching Chips participate in Marti Gras in downtown Mt. Pleasant and perform in the Homecoming parade during Homecoming festivities each October here on campus.
Each year incoming freshman can join through one of two audition processes:
Approved music majors are accepted into membership in the Chippewa Marching Band without further audition and will be sent all pertinent information after music major auditions are concluded in April of each school year.
Non-majors should select one of the first four orientation periods of the summer in order to schedule a marching band audition. |
